In 2001, Galia's owner, Elizabeth Bernstein, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Galia was there for Elizabeth every step of the way, providing her with love and comfort. When Elizabeth lost her hair due to chemotherapy, Galia would curl up on her lap and purr.
In 2002, Elizabeth started a blog about Galia called "Am Cat Galia." The blog quickly became popular, and Galia became a beloved figure in the online cat community. People were drawn to Galia's story of love and hope, and they found inspiration in her courage and resilience.
In 2003, Galia was diagnosed with lymphoma. Elizabeth was heartbroken, but she knew that she had to make the best of the time she had left with her beloved cat. Galia continued to be a source of love and comfort to Elizabeth, and she even helped to raise awareness of lymphoma in cats.
Galia passed away in 2004, but her legacy lives on. The Am Cat Galia Foundation was founded in her memory, and it continues to provide support to cats and cat owners in need. The foundation also provides grants to researchers who are studying lymphoma in cats.
Am Cat Galia Bernstein was an extraordinary cat who inspired a movement. Her story is one of love, loss, and the power of hope. She will never be forgotten.
