Synopsis:
Maddie Brien is a young girl who loves to explore the woods behind her house. One day, she comes across a flock of wild turkeys. The turkeys are scared of her at first, but Maddie is patient and eventually they warm up to her. Maddie learns a lot about the turkeys and their habits. She also learns that they are not as scary as she thought they were.
One day, Maddie's father tells her that the turkeys are going to be hunted. Maddie is heartbroken. She doesn't want the turkeys to be killed. She decides to do everything she can to save them.
With the help of her friends, Maddie hatches a plan to save the turkeys. They build a fence around the turkeys' home and they put up signs warning people not to hunt them. Maddie's plan works and the turkeys are saved.

The story is full of adventure, humor, and beautiful illustrations. Maddie is a strong and resourceful character who will inspire young readers. The book also teaches children about the importance of respecting animals and their habitats.
