Sleightly Close Up: A Photographer's Journey into the Unseen
Photographer Gail Morin has spent her career capturing images of the world around her. But in her latest book, Sleightly Close Up, she turns her lens inward, exploring the hidden world of her own body. The result is a series of stunning and thought-provoking images that challenge our assumptions about what it means to be human.

Morin's images are not simply self-portraits. They are explorations of the body as a landscape, a site of both beauty and vulnerability. She uses her camera to reveal the intricate details of her skin, her muscles, and her bones. She exposes the scars and imperfections that are often hidden from view. And she invites us to see the beauty in the things that we often take for granted.
Morin's work is not just about the body. It is also about identity, self-acceptance, and the human condition. Through her images, she challenges us to think about the ways in which we define ourselves and our place in the world. She asks us to question the boundaries between the self and the other, and to consider the ways in which we are all connected.
Sleightly Close Up is a powerful and moving book that will stay with you long after you finish reading it. It is a book that will challenge your assumptions about the body, about identity, and about the human condition. It is a book that will make you see the world in a new way.
Here are some of the reviews that Sleightly Close Up has received:
- "Morin's images are both beautiful and disturbing, and they force us to confront our own mortality and vulnerability." - The New York Times
- "Morin's work is a powerful reminder that the body is not just a physical object, but a source of both beauty and meaning." - The Guardian
- "Morin's images are a celebration of the human body in all its complexity and wonder." - The Washington Post
